NinjaTrader's Legacy Forum Is Offline: How to Find the Old Threads

NinjaTrader’s legacy support forum at forum.ninjatrader.com is offline: every address there now redirects to the newer Discourse forum at discourse.ninjatrader.com, and the old thread links themselves return “page not found.” The threads aren’t recoverable from NinjaTrader — but many are preserved in the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, and there’s a one-step trick to find them: put https://web.archive.org/web/2026/ in front of the dead link. This post covers what happened, exactly how to dig out an archived thread, and where current answers live now.

What happened to forum.ninjatrader.com

The legacy forum — the vBulletin site that accumulated well over a decade of NinjaScript, indicator, strategy, and connectivity troubleshooting threads — stopped serving its archive sometime between July 8, 2026 (the last date the Wayback Machine captured it working) and early August, when we verified that every URL on the domain now issues a blanket redirect to discourse.ninjatrader.com. The Discourse forum has been NinjaTrader’s active community since mid-2024, but it started fresh: legacy threads were not migrated, so any old link — from a Google result, a bookmark, a YouTube description, another forum — now dead-ends.

We could not locate an official retirement announcement, and the practical effect is what matters: one of the largest bodies of NinjaTrader troubleshooting knowledge on the internet no longer has a live home. The public backup that exists is the Internet Archive: our count of its index found 19,525 unique pages captured from the forum between February 2023 and July 8, 2026. That’s a fraction of the forum’s full history — but archive crawlers favor the pages people actually visited and linked, so the best-known threads are the most likely to be saved.

How to find an archived thread

1. If you have the dead link: paste https://web.archive.org/web/2026/ in front of the full URL — for example, https://web.archive.org/web/2026/https://forum.ninjatrader.com/forum/... — and the Wayback Machine redirects you to the capture closest to 2026, when the forum was last live.
2. If that shows “the Wayback Machine has not archived that URL”: use the “search for all archived pages” link on that error page, or browse with a wildcard — https://web.archive.org/web/*/forum.ninjatrader.com/forum/[section]* — to list everything saved under that part of the forum, then pick the nearest thread.
3. If you only remember the topic: search Google for the thread title plus forum.ninjatrader.com, copy the (dead) result’s address, and run it through step 1.

Set expectations accordingly: popular threads usually have a capture, quiet ones often don’t, and multi-page threads are sometimes archived only in part. Captures from July 8, 2026 or earlier are the ones that predate the shutdown.

What it means for NinjaTrader and Rithmic traders

There are two real consequences beyond the inconvenience.

First, search results haven’t caught up: Google still ranks thousands of those threads, so an error-message search today frequently lands on a dead link. The Wayback route above is the workaround until living answers replace them.

Second — and this matters more for connection problems — the archived answers are frozen in time. The Rithmic-to-NinjaTrader landscape changed materially in 2026, most notably when NinjaTrader ended its legacy Rithmic connection path on June 30. Advice written for the old setup can now be outdated or simply wrong, even when you find a pristine archived copy of it.
