OneUp Trader Connection Guide to NinjaTrader 8

OneUp evaluations have a native NinjaTrader Desktop route. PropFirmConnector adds the ability to connect that login alongside separate Rithmic logins from other firms. The setup below uses Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago).

PropFirmConnector is an independent third-party add-on and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OneUp Trader, NinjaTrader, or Rithmic.

Your OneUp Trader Rithmic account and login

Multiple accounts do not necessarily mean multiple logins. OneUp permits one Rithmic user ID per user and prohibits using extra email addresses to obtain additional IDs. PropFirmConnector does not change that policy.

These settings cover OneUp evaluations. For a funded-stage account, check the newly issued credentials and connection instructions before reusing an evaluation System.

Where to find your OneUp Rithmic login

Use the Rithmic username and case-sensitive password from the OneUp welcome email, without extra spaces. Your OneUp website and NinjaTrader sign-ins are separate.

How to connect OneUp Trader to NinjaTrader 8 in 5 steps

  1. Activate the OneUp evaluation login in R|Trader Pro

    Sign in with the issued Rithmic credentials. Choose Rithmic Paper Trading and the CHICAGO gateway for a US connection; OneUp lists regional gateways for traders elsewhere. Complete the market-data agreements with your correct professional or non-professional classification and confirm the evaluation account appears. After activation, close R|Trader Pro for the direct PropFirmConnector setup below.

  2. Install PropFirmConnector

    From your PropFirmConnector account, download PropFirmConnector.zip and close NinjaTrader completely. Extract the ZIP, then copy NinjaTrader.Custom-pfc.dll to My Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom. Start NinjaTrader again and, when your browser opens, click Activate this device.

  3. Open NinjaTrader 8 and sign in

    Start NinjaTrader 8 and sign in with your NinjaTrader account credentials when prompted. These are your NinjaTrader credentials, not the Rithmic username and password issued by OneUp Trader.

  4. Configure Rithmic for OneUp Trader

    In the NinjaTrader Control Center, select Connections, then configure. Select Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage from the Available list on the left, enter the Rithmic username and password issued by OneUp Trader, give the connection a recognizable name, leave Connect on start up and Plug-in mode off, and select Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) for System.

  5. Connect to OneUp Trader

    Open Connections again and click the connection name you just created. A green status indicator and the account appearing in NinjaTrader confirm the connection.

If your OneUp Trader connection is not working

Should Plug-in mode be on or off?
Off. Plug-in mode shares a running R|Trader Pro session with NinjaTrader, which is a different setup from PropFirmConnector’s direct connection. In Connections > Configure, select your Rithmic connection, uncheck Plug-in mode, click OK and connect again. Some firm and Rithmic instructions turn it on for their R|Trader Pro workflow; leave it off for PropFirmConnector.
The connection is green, but the account isn’t in NinjaTrader’s Accounts tab.
Your NinjaTrader login is probably missing the general Rithmic entitlement, so the Accounts tab often shows only Sim101. In NinjaTrader, open Help > About. The Entitlements line should say Evaluation (Rithmic); if it doesn’t, the connection can turn green without showing your accounts. Older NinjaTrader accounts don’t have this entitlement by default, but newly registered accounts do. The fix is in your NinjaTrader account, not in Rithmic or your firm’s dashboard, and you only do it once.

If Evaluation (Rithmic) is missing:

  • Import this license key at account.ninjatrader.com: click your initials, then Settings > Plans > Import license key. Paste the key, click Import, then close and restart NinjaTrader.

  • No Import license key button, or still missing? Trading mainly with prop firms? Your NinjaTrader login doesn’t matter, so the fastest fix is to create a new NinjaTrader account with a different email and sign in with it.
  • Keeping your current login, for example because it has a live account on it? Email platformsupport@ninjatrader.com with your NinjaTrader username and ask them to enable the general Rithmic entitlement.

The OneUp login is rejected.
Check capitalization, extra spaces, the selected System and outstanding agreements in R|Trader Pro. If the same credentials still fail there, resolve account access with OneUp before changing the NinjaTrader connection.
The native Rithmic evaluation connection is unavailable.
Enable Multi-provider Mode under Tools > Options > General and restart NinjaTrader. For OneUp’s native route, check Help > About for the Evaluation (Rithmic) entitlement. If it is absent, follow OneUp’s entitlement instructions below to contact NinjaTrader Client Services and identify your OneUp evaluation.
Only Sim101 appears.
Sim101 is NinjaTrader’s practice account, not your OneUp evaluation. Confirm that the issued account appears in R|Trader Pro, then check the saved connection and account selector in NinjaTrader before trading. If the connection is green but only Sim101 is listed, check Help > About for Evaluation (Rithmic) and use the license-key fix in the Accounts tab question above.
OneUp’s native instructions say to enable Plug-in mode.
That workflow shares the R|Trader Pro session: OneUp enables Allow Plugins, Orders and Market Data there and keeps it open. The direct PropFirmConnector walkthrough here uses Plug-in mode off and does not require R|Trader Pro to remain open. Follow the settings for the route you are using.

Correction — September 23, 2026: the earlier FAQ described multiple OneUp logins without stating OneUp’s restriction on additional user IDs. This guide now distinguishes multiple accounts under one login from separate logins across firms.
