TakeProfit Trader Connection Guide to NinjaTrader 8

Quick answer

Yes. For a TakeProfit Trader Test or PRO account issued with Rithmic credentials, PropFirmConnector connects through Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) in NinjaTrader 8. Native Rithmic access depends on your NinjaTrader eligibility. A CQG account uses the separate native Tradovate route.

Choose the route for your TakeProfit Trader account

Check the provider and account stage in your dashboard before setting up NinjaTrader. The five-step walkthrough below is for an issued Rithmic Test or PRO account.

CQG / Tradovate account

Use the Tradovate credentials issued in the CQG subscription. Activate on Tradovate first, then follow TakeProfit Trader’s native NinjaTrader CQG instructions.

PropFirmConnector: Not used for this track. Do not enter Tradovate credentials in the Rithmic connection form.

Rithmic Test / PRO account

TakeProfit Trader publishes a native Rithmic walkthrough, but its platform list names NinjaTrader under CQG. Confirm your native Rithmic eligibility before relying on that route.

PropFirmConnector: Use the issued Rithmic login with Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago). The add-on also supports separate Rithmic logins in one NinjaTrader instance.

Credentials for the Rithmic steps below

Open the Rithmic subscription in your TakeProfit Trader dashboard and use its Rithmic username and password. Keep your NinjaTrader application login separate. CQG, Tradovate and website credentials do not belong in this Rithmic connection form.

  1. Step 1 One-time activation

    Activate the TakeProfit Trader Rithmic login

    Wait until the Rithmic subscription is active in your TakeProfit Trader dashboard. In R|Trader Pro, enter the issued credentials in both the order and market-data sections, select Rithmic Paper Trading in both, and use the appropriate gateway. Accept the first-login agreements with your correct subscriber classification and confirm the expected account appears. Then close R|Trader Pro before using the direct PropFirmConnector connection below.

  2. Step 2

    Install PropFirmConnector

    From your PropFirmConnector account, download PropFirmConnector.zip and close NinjaTrader completely. Extract the ZIP, then copy NinjaTrader.Custom-pfc.dll to My Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom. Start NinjaTrader again and, when your browser opens, click Activate this device.

    Open NinjaTrader 8 and sign in

    Start NinjaTrader 8 and sign in with your NinjaTrader account credentials when prompted. These are your NinjaTrader credentials, not the Rithmic username and password issued by TakeProfit Trader.

    Configure Rithmic for TakeProfit Trader

    In the NinjaTrader Control Center, select Connections, then configure. Select Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage from the Available list on the left, enter the Rithmic username and password issued by TakeProfit Trader, give the connection a recognizable name, leave Connect on start up and Plug-in mode off, and select Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) for System.

    In the Control Center, click Connections, then configure.

    Connect to TakeProfit Trader

    Open Connections again and click the connection name you just created. A green status indicator and the account appearing in NinjaTrader confirm the connection.

If the TakeProfit Trader connection is not working

The dashboard account is still pending.
For Rithmic, wait for the subscription to become active before the first R|Trader Pro login. For CQG, complete the first Tradovate login and agreements; TakeProfit Trader says the dashboard status can take 10–15 minutes to update afterward.
NinjaTrader has no Configure option under Connections.
Open Tools → Options → General, enable Multi-provider, apply the change and restart NinjaTrader. Then create the Rithmic connection using the firm-issued credentials.
The login is rejected or the expected account is missing.
Check the provider label and recheck the same issued credentials in R|Trader Pro. Complete pending agreements and confirm the expected account there. For this Rithmic Test/PRO setup, select Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) in NinjaTrader; PRO is still simulated, so a funded label alone is not a reason to select a live System. If the account is also missing in R|Trader Pro, ask TakeProfit Trader to check its provisioning.
A second application causes a session conflict.
Close the R|Trader Pro activation session for the direct PropFirmConnector setup, which leaves Plug-in mode off. TakeProfit Trader’s separate native shared-session recipe uses Allow Plugins in R|Trader Pro and Plug-in mode in NinjaTrader. Do not combine those settings with this direct connection; PropFirmConnector does not grant extra provider sessions.

Copying trades after connecting

PropFirmConnector supplies the connection; a separate trade copier handles orders. Confirm that the intended accounts appear, then choose a copier permitted by TakeProfit Trader’s current policy. Its approved list specifies Replikanto Flowbot Compliance Edition only and restricts copying to your own controlled accounts.

Q Can I change from CQG to Rithmic after buying the account?

TakeProfit Trader’s platform guide allows switching compatible applications within your selected data feed. That does not establish whether the firm can convert an existing account between CQG and Rithmic or preserve its progress. Confirm those details with TakeProfit Trader before buying another account or requesting a change.
